The Power of Gratitude

The Power of Gratitude
I often write about the power of gratitude, it came to me in my meditation that I should revise this article about the power of gratitude. Perhaps someone out there needs to read it.
If you are reading this article, you are blessed. No matter what you’re social or economic situation might be, your situation is still better than thousands throughout the world. We often take our blessings for granted. My grandmother used to say, “Thank God for another day.” “Thousands did not get that blessing today. But you did.” Having gratitude is a way of giving thanks for the many blessing we have learned to recognize.

A very common cause of depression is the inability to recognize our blessings. We become depressed because we focus on depressing things, things that we don’t want. What you think about often will manifest in your reality. When we focus on the things we want in our life; with faith and without fear and doubt we have the power to make it a reality. The more we practice and understand this blessing the greater our ability will be to have gratitude.

In his wonderful book, The Science of Getting Rich Wallace D. Wattles sums up the above  thought by writing: “If it is a new thought to you that gratitude brings your whole mind into close harmony with the creative energies of the universe, consider it well, and you will see that it is true. The good things you already have come to you along of obedience to certain laws. Gratitude will lead your mind out along the ways by which things come and will keep you in close with creative thought.”

It matters not, the difficulty of your situation; you have the ability to change it, for the better. We were born with that ability and that is a reason to be thankful, a reason to embrace the feeling of gratitude. One of the laws that Wattles was referring to was the law of attraction.  Your blessing of thought manifestation can work against you if are not aware of it. Like all universal laws, they work whether you believe in them or not.

Wattles warn that “The moment you permit your mind to dwell with dissatisfaction upon things as they are you begin to lose ground. You fix your attention upon the common, the poor, the squalid, and the mean; and your mind takes the form of these things. Then you will transmit these forms or mental images to the formless, and the common, the poor, the squalid and the mean will come to you.”

So if you are reading this dialog and you are depressed, be thankful the mind of the universe is sending you a message. Every day we have something to be thankful for; getting up is probably the most important one. As the universe moves into a new frequency the ability to embrace the feeling of gratitude will be very important.

Gratitude comes with the recognition that we all were born with special gifts. It is important to utilizing them wisely.  Remember no matter who we are or what we have or don’t have we all have something to be thankful for. I wish  a very Happy Holiday season to all.
