The Power of Affirmation
Urbanology 11/10/07

I have written about the power of thought which is connected to the law of attraction. You attract to you what you think most about. Like the universal law of gravity there is a growing acceptance of the spiritual science theory that considers thought a spiritual action, and a universal law which creates our material reality?

The universal law of gravity means no matter who are what you are the law applies to you race creed or religion. When we consider thought to be a spiritual action we are saying like gravity no matter who you are your thoughts will attract to you that in which you think about the most negative or positive.

Charles F. Haanel (The Master Key System) states” The human race is on the eve of a new consciousness, a new power and a new realization of resources the self”. Haanel goes on to say that “the most powerful forces of nature are the invisible forces, and the most powerful forces of man are his invisible forces, his spiritual force. The only way that the spiritual force can manifest according to the spiritual science concept is through the process of thinking. Haanel goes on to say that thinking is the only activity which the spirit possesses, and thought is the only product of thinking.

You might not understand or believe in the law of gravity it makes no difference it will still apply to you just as the law of attraction. wither you believe it or not your thoughts will attract to you and manifest in your life the things that you think about with the most passion. For this reason students of the spiritual sciences believe that this century will produce the greatest progress in mental and spiritual power.

If you have read up to this point you might be wondering how you might test this spiritual science theory of the power of thought. To do a test first you must understand that the “I” is not the physical body or the mind. When you say I think the “I” tells the mind what to think. When you say “I” go the “I” tells the physical body where to go. Which brings us to the power of the affirmation. I invite you to use the following affirmation as a self test. I truly believe that if you repeat the following affirmation over and over until it becomes a part of your being your life will change because your thoughts will attract to you that in which you think about with passion. This is the affirmation I suggest that you use: I am healthy, I am wealthy, I am loving, I am compassionate, I am whole I am complete and I am happy. You be the judge your life will improve if you believe that you came into this world with the power to manifest your thoughts into reality.

Stress Awareness
Urbanology May 2009

April was Stress Awareness month. Most people know that there is a close relationship between stress and illness, but have no idea of just what stress is. I believe that the emotional attachment we have to the “stories” in our head is a major factor contributing to the mental, emotional, or physical tension known as stress. The stories that we play, over and over, in our heads create emotional blockages. These emotional blockages cause stress.

All too often the stories we carry around about what happened, over time, becomes far more significant than what really happened. And when we can’t, or won’t, let go - we create energy blockages, which produce stress. Interestingly, “I am right” and “you are wrong” dialogs are factors found in most of the emotional stress we experience.

Right and wrong is really based on a phenomenon called “collective agreement”. If enough people agree on something it becomes their “truth”. The emotional stress of anger and fear centered on the “I am right” and “you are wrong” factor in any “truth” issue continues until the agreement changes. When the agreement changes the truth changes. When the truth changes the emotional story connected to the issue also changes.

What does all this mean? Simply, that much of the harmful emotional stress we experience due to anger, sadness, and fear is based on what we “believe” to be true. Eckhart Tolle, in his book “A New Earth”, describes the truth as “a number of stories that become a collective agreement”. My point in discussing all this is to emphasize one fact: If you are carrying a story around in your head that’s emotionally attached to anger, sadness or fear - let it go. It’s making you sick.

Learn to turn the voice in your head off. If you accept the fact that what you believe to be true today can change tomorrow, you’ll be more flexible in your opinions and thoughts - which reduces stress. This is very important if you’re in a leadership position. In the ancient Taoist book of Leadership and Strategy, The Huainanzi, there’s a passage that states:

“Those who can become strong leaders must be able to find winners. Those who can win must be strong. Those who can be strong are able to use the power of other people. To be able to use the power of other people, it is necessary to win people’s hearts. To be able to win people’s hearts, it is necessary to have self-mastery. To be capable of self-mastery, it is necessary to be flexible.”
Stress Awareness is something that must be practiced अल थे time.

Urbanology
The Past is our Future

In last weeks column I talked about a book that I used as one of the foundations in developing my strategic management concepts “ The Tao of Organization”. The I Ching for group dynamics by Cheng Yi, translated by Thomas Cleary. I was pleasantly surprised at the number of people who over the past week asked me what the I Chang was and why I used it in developing my urban strategic management concepts.

To quote Thomas Cleary, who in my opinion is on of the best translators of the Chinese classics “ The I Ching “ The Book of Change” is considered the oldest of the Chinese classics that for the past 2000 years has been considered a book of fundamental principles by philosophers, politicians, mystics, scientists and mathematicians. The I Ching is the foundation of the Taoist Yin/Yang theory.

The importance of the I Ching came to me has a Philosophy student at The City College of New York at a Black Studies program where the guest speaker was Dr. Ivan Van Sertima who gave a talked about his new book “African Presence in Early Asia” a wonderful book that opened a new world of understanding for me. Dr. Van Sertima explained that that the general consensus is that the I Ching originated in China but its origin can be traced to the West Asian Black Akkado-Sumerians of Elam-Babylonia 2800B.C.E.

You may still ask what does the I Ching have to do with today? There are many answers to this question but the two most important to the world today in my opinion are the following. The discovery of the genetic code, which has changed how we see the world. It has allowed scientist to use the DNA code to pin point the exact location in Africa where the human race begin, and it has changed the way we look at both life and death. In 1953 James Watson and Francis Crick announced their discovery of the genetic code consisting of 64 binary figures which correspond directly to the 64 binary figures of the I Ching which was a factor in their discovery.

The second important world development is Information technology, we all know how computers have and will continue to change the world. In 1675, German mathematician Gottfried Von Leibniz, after being introduced to the binary system of the I Ching while traveling in the East introduced to the world the concept of binary mathematics which became the foundation of computer science.

Dr. Van Sertima’s book shows without a doubt the close relationship between Asia and Africa. Wise men say that history repeats its self I believe this to be true, that is why I am sure that the time for strategic multi-cultural marketing and management is now. So when I am asked why I used the I Ching in the development of the Urbanology Strategic management system. I reply that I am just following the direction given to me by my ancestors.

Healing the Rift
Urbanology May 12 2009

I often write about my interest in the Spiritual Science movement, which is a growing awareness of the closing of the gap between scientific research and the concept of spirituality. In 2004 the movie What the Bleep Do we Know (www.whatthebleep.com) became one of the most successful documentaries of all time. The focus of the film was to highlight, in a very entertaining way, research in quantum physics, neurology and evolutionary thought that connects science with the concept of spirituality. Distributed in over 30 countries, for many this was the beginning of the spiritual science movement. I believe that our continuing human evolutionary process, and the interest in the spiritual science concept, has been a major factor in the tremendous success of Dr. Leo Kim’s best selling book Healing the Rift: Bridging the Gap Between Science & Spirituality.

Dr. Kim, a scientist and biotechnological executive with over 50 scientific publications and patents, has developed a very interesting modern-day examination of science versus spirituality. Quantum physics scientists have developed scientific proof that the universe consists of energy fields of different types and frequencies. Kim writes that humans generate energy fields at various frequencies. Kim goes on to say that humans are affected emotionally, cognitively and behaviorally by electromagnetic energy fields that exist in our environment.

Dr. Kim also points out the fact that energy healing concepts have been used by spiritual healers for thousands of years. Kim explains how Dr. Valerie Hunt, a physical therapist and a professor of Kinesiolgy at UCLA, while using a machine called an electromyography to measure electrical activity in the muscles, discovered verifiable electrical fields outside the body. These fields were better correlated with the chakras than with any organs, thus providing scientific evidence for the ancient Hindu, Chinese and Korean teachings about the connection of healing and energy fields.

Dr. Kim gives a number of examples of how science and spirituality are growing closer together as we become more aware of who we are and how much we don’t know. The following quote from Dr. Kim pretty much sums up his research “All of the theories of science and all of the teachings of religions and spirituality are but metaphors that attempt to describe reality. There is now an agreement that we do not know what is really out there”.

What Dr. Kim, and many others, are now saying is that knowledge that is well over 6,000 years is being proven to be scientific fact, not just a spiritual concept. Through my training as a Ki Energy master I learned in the mountains of Korea how to use internal and external energy fields to relax the body - thus allowing it to self heal. The Age of Integrity
Urbanology Systems November 20th 2008

Webster’s Dictionary defines integrity as a strict adherence to a standard of value or conduct. Personal honesty and unity is also part of Webster’s definition of integrity. We currently live in what I believe to be an environment of change. A change towards a mind set where true value is placed on honesty and unity. Not due to a voluntary mind shift towards altruistic values in our collective consciences, but for survival. For the world and mankind to survive the competitive mind must be replaced by the creative mind in our collective conscience.

We have lived for many generations in the competitive mind set, an environment of limitations where fortunes have been made on the backs of or at the expense of others.
A time where integrity fairness and honesty was all to often associated with weakness, foolishness, and a path way to failure especially in business and politics. An environment that replaced spirituality with the politics of religion. I believe we are now experiencing the beginning of a change from the completive mind set of limitations to the creative mind set of abundance, The Age of Integrity.

This new Age of Integrity will be the next major step in the evolution of mankind. I believe this change will take place because of the natural law of survival and adaptation a natural law that has brought us to our current state. Many are now beginning to understand that if the earth is to continue to support mankind integrity will have to reestablish it’s self in both business and politics. This concept is not new as the saying goes timing is everything. Wallace D. Wattles talked about the creative mind set in the late 1800’s in his book “The Science of Getting Rich” We are now in a time and place where our survival instincts are beginning to associate creative thinking and integrity with winning.

This change my not be fully realized in my life time but I feel blessed to have the vision to see its beginning. All too often visionaries experience a great deal of loneliness and ridicule. For this reason only the very few that have had the courage and endurance to follow their vision and most importantly to enroll others into their vision have been recognized or remembered. So I would like to enroll you into the possibility of a world where the best and most successful business practice is to create profit not at the expense of others but in some way to benefit others.

Wattles was ahead of his time when he wrote “when you can give a person more in use value than you take in cash value; you are adding to the life of the world by every business transaction”. All reality as we know or believe it to be starts with a thought. Thought manifestation is real we do it all of the time. In the Age of Integrity the me generation will be replaced by the us generation, more fortunes will be made by creative ways of helping others and improving the quality of life then the old competitive way. Nature is selective in the New Age a lack of integrity will make you extinct. Don’t take my word for this just open your eyes and look around it’s just the beginning but the change to a new age has started.

Change
The Power of Thought
Urbanology November 6 2008

Thought is the mother of change. Every change humans have made in the material world has started with a thought. When you look around everything you can see and some you can’t see started with a thought in the head of a person. According to Charles F. Haanel in his book the Master Key System “the individual may act on the Universal and the result of this action and interaction is cause and effect, thought, is the cause, and the experience with which you meet in life are the effect.”

It is believed by many including myself that thought is a spiritual
Activity endowed with creative power. Fear and doubt often stands in the way of the creative use of thought to manifest desired effects in our lives and the world. A creative thought which is a spiritual act can change ones environment. To do so one most have faith in ones ability to change that in which a society’s collective conscience may consider being the truth.

Charles Haanel puts it this way “we know that thought is building for us the think we think of and actually bring it nearer, yet we find it difficult to banish fear, anxiety or discouragement, all of which are powerful thought forces, and will continually send the things we desire further away. Our thoughts can be our worse enemy, if not monitored.

When Jackie Roberson started to think he could become the first African American in the white only professional baseball league the collective conscience of many in America did not believed that it would ever happen for a host of reasons. When Mohandas Gandhi developed the thought that he could lead India to independence by using non-violent political resistance the collective thought of his society did not support his vision. Gandhi’s faith in his thoughts changed his environment and became an inspiration to many others including Dr. Martin Luther King and President Obama.

I am sure when Barack Obama first got the thought that he could create a change in the collective thought in America most did not believe that the collective thought of America could support the concept that one Black man could inspire a nation and the world.
You have the power to have what ever focus your mind on, but it takes faith in ones abilities to manifest ones thoughts into reality. We all have the ability but without understanding we have this ability we all to often misuse this ability.

The Power of Love
Urbanology 11/24/07

All things that exist in our world vibrate this universal law is why many scientists are now developing theories that agree with the spiritual concept that we are a part of everything and everything is a part of us.
The spiritual science movement considers thought to be a spiritual act that has the power to manifest into reality that in which one thinks about often and with great emotion.

When you consider the fact that all things in the visible and invisible world are vibrating but at different frequencies it is not difficult to understand how the vibration of your thought frequency can attract to you the visible and invisible frequencies that correspond to your thought. The important thing to remember about this is that we all do this, we attract to us what we think, and love is the most powerful vibration frequency that we have. You may ask why I say this, the answer is easy what you give you get.

The powerful frequency of unconditional love can allow a mother to heal a sore arm by just rubbing it, that same frequency can give that mother straight to pick up the front end of a car to save her child. There are many spiritual stories about the laying of hands where through love people are healed by touch. I learned about the power of the love frequency when I was tough the ancient Taoist healing energy system “Jung Do” in the mountains of Korea.

Jung Do masters use sound vibration and touch to open energy blockages to address stress and pain in people that they treat. A few years ago I became the first African American to be trained as a Jung Do master. Perhaps you have seen the Jung Do Ki Energy exhibits during Harlem Week or at health fairs. The point here is to be a true Jung Do ki energy master you most learn to tap into the vibrational frequency of unconditional love to help the person that you treat loved ones or strangers. I have learned from experience that love energy is a very powerful frequency.

Health Wealth and Love should always be in the foundations of your thoughts. Esther and Jerry Hicks in their book “The Law of Attraction” talk about the science of deliberate creation, which is when you create on purpose by thinking about what you want. They go on to say that it is best to create what you want because the law of creation works whether you are thinking of what you want or thinking of the lack of what you want. Most people are not aware of this and allow their environment to dictate their thoughts and emotions and health, wealth and love is not the focus of their thoughts all too often the lack of health, wealth and love is the focus of their thoughts and that is what they get. Think about it.
The Art of W.A.R.
Urbanology October 16, 2008

I first became interested in Sun Tzu’s ancient Chinese Classic, The Art of War, in 1968. I was in the United States Army stationed at Foot Hood Texas. This was a time when military intelligence was trying to understand how an army of peasant farmers was defeating the mighty US military forces in Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh’s (the founder of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam) famous answer to that question was: “We are defeating the mighty imperialist forces by using Sun Tzu’s The Art of War.” A whole new generation of Sun Tzu strategists was born in 68’.

For over two thousand years The Art of War has remained one of the most influential books of strategy in the world according to Harvard’s Thomas Cleary who, in my opinion, is the best translator of Chinese classics. The strategic concepts found in Sun Tzu’s work had a major influence on strategic military training and American business community.

I became a great admirer of the strategic concepts of this mysterious Taoist warrior-philosopher. One of its most valuable lessons is the importance of knowing oneself. Sun Tzu states: “If you know others and you know yourself you will win most of your battles. If you do not know others but know yourself you will win some and lose some. If you don’t know yourself and do not know others you will lose most of the time”. Understanding one’s self is not as easy as it sounds.

This my surprise you, but you are not who you think you are. In his book, A New Earth, Eckhart Tolle calls it the “The Illusory Self”. According to Tolle, most of us live in an illusory sense of self, a misperception of who we think we are. Albert Einstein called it “an optical illusion of consciousness”. Most of what you consider reality is only an illusion. Tolle goes on to say, “If you can recognize illusion as illusion it dissolves. Its survival depends on your mistaking it for reality.” My advice for both individual and organizational strategic management is to be clear about who you are, not who you think you are. Only then can you understand your true strengths and weaknesses. Sun Tzu teaches: “Making yourself invincible means knowing yourself; waiting for vulnerability in opponents means knowing others.”

When I was developing Urbanology Systems, my strategic multicultural marketing and management company, my son gave me the idea of using my name, William Anthony Rogers (WAR), as part of my strategic marketing plan, which developed into: Urbanology: The Art of W.A.R. I suggest if you have not had the opportunity to read Sun Tzu’s The Art of War, and you are in any type of competitive situation, either personal or organizational, it might be a good idea to pick up a book. I suggest that you look for Thomas Cleary’s translation of the text. If you are in business and you don’t understand this type of strategic thinking you can become very vulnerable to those who do.

Medical Marijuana
Tony Rogers

A bill that would legalize the use of medical marijuana is rapidly picking up bipartisan support in Albany and the New York City Council has passed a resolution expressing its support for a state medical marijuana bill. Experts believe that it is possible for the bill to be on the floor of the Assembly by the end of the year. A growing number of States have passed similar types of medical marijuana legislation including Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Maine, Michigan, California, Colorado, Hawaii and California

I join the growing numbers who consider the “Truth” to be a series of stories that lead to agreements that are then considered fact. When the stories change, the agreements change and what is considered fact and or the truth will also change. Think about the stories and agreements centered on America electing a Black president four years ago. The story and agreement that marijuana should not be considered safe as a medical option for life threatening health problems such as cancer is changing.

The use of Cannabis better know as marijuana (which is the Spanish name for the plants hemp fiber) became illegal in the United States in 1937 not because of a health concern, it was about economics. History shows that the 1937 law was passed due to an extensive propaganda campaign conducted by William Randolph Hearst and Lamont DuPont. Mr. Hearse was supplying most of America with paper made from wood pulp, at that time an eco-friendly concept of making paper from hemp threaten to cost the Hearse business millions. Lamont DuPont’s patented of making synthetic nylon from coal, would have also lost millions due to competition from national hemp clothing and other products.

It was never about health. In 1938 New York Mayor Fiorello La Guardia appointed a committee of scientist to study the medical, sociological and psychological aspects of marihuana use in New York City. A detailed finding of this study was presented in 1944 under the title of “Marijuana Problem in the City of New York. Lester Grinspoon, M.D. and James B. Bakalar in their book “Marijuana the forbidden Medicine” suggest that the study was largely disregarded because it dispelled many of the myths that had been developed from the Reefer Madness propaganda campaign, the study also suggested a number of health benefits.

The current opposition to New States medical marijuana bill feel that marihuana is a harmful drug and passing such a bill would create more illegal use. This subject was debated last week on New York 1 by State Senators Martin Golden (R) Brooklyn and Thomas Duane (D) Manhattan.
Senator Duane stated that “research has shown marijuana to be effective in reducing nausea and vomiting in patients taking chemotherapy treatments”. It has also been proven effective in addressing depression, Glaucoma, Chronic pain and AIDS.

Studies have shown no proof of a dependency like drugs such as Cocaine and Amphetamines two drugs that U.S. Federal Law currently considers less harmful. The medical marijuana bill is structured to help very sick people with health options, these people are in most cases the only ones that have been deprived of this medical option. Is this issue focused on health or economics?
Jung Do: The Way of Ki

Ki Energy training has been a part of the Korean Taoist culture for centuries. Ki is a term used in Korea and Japan to describe vital Energy - the foundation of our existence. Many in the Western world are beginning to acknowledge the benefits of energy training and treatment systems such as Tai-Chi-Chuan, Chee-Gung, Acupuncture, and the Korean energy training and treatment system of Jung Do.

The Benefits of energy training and treatment systems such as Jung Do can be summarized in two words: balance and harmony. When the vital energy that flows within our body is balanced, harmony between the mind, body and spirit is realized. When this happens the body acquires the ability to heal itself.

The root cause of over 90 percent of all illness is stress. Stress creates energy blockages, and untreated energy blockages manifest as illness and disease. The Jung Do treatment and training system addresses stress by providing ways to release vital energy blockages. Jung Do masters use sound vibration, movement and meditation to bring balance and harmony between mind, body and spirit.

The components of a Jung Do Ki Energy treatment and training center are:

Chunsu
Jung Do masters use sound vibration and touch to open energy blockages in the body. The electromagnetic nature of human energy flows through interlocking energy channels. A Chunsu treatment - a form of acupuncture - improves the balance and flow of the body’s vital energy. This process reduces stress, thus giving the body the opportunity to self-heal.

Energy Movement Exercises
Jung Do training exercises are done in steps. The calming influence of each step improves the circulation of Vital Ki energy, which influences the central nervous system to promote mental tranquility. When our vital energy is balanced and in harmony, an improvement in the quality of everyday life is realized.

Vibrational Chanting
Research in Vibrational medicine has shown how sound has a healing effect on the human body, something that many cultures have known for centuries. Jung Do vibrational chanting assists the circulation of the body’s vital energy and blood flow. Jung Do chanting is always done before energy movement exercises.

Meditation
Each Jung Do Ki energy exercise ends with meditation. This allows the body to balance the vital organs, energizing the brain to promote spiritual vitality and harmony.

Ancestor Training
Science is now researching the positive and negative effects of inherited ancestor energy on health, something many cultures have known for years.
Advanced Jung Do ancestor training provides the opportunity to address negative ancestor energy both mentally and physically.

When the mind, body and spirit are in balance a spiritual connection with the mind of the universe can be achieved. The source of true happiness can only be found from within, not in the material world - which is why happiness is elusive to those who seek it only in people, places and things.

Uropathy: The Most Powerful Holistic Therapy?
By Tony Rogers

I have no doubt that the concept of Uropathy will be interesting to some and disgusting to others. The idea of drinking your own urine will be appalling to many. So read this article with an open mind. I assure you though, that the information I’m about to share may one day be critically helpful to you or someone you love.

Martin J. Lara in his book, Uropathy: The Most Powerful Holistic Therapy, states that your urine contains over 2,000 ingredients. This makes it a perfect organic compound which your body requires to reestablish proper circulation that stimulates the lymphatic system into detoxifying. According to Lara, “During the first 50 years of the twentieth century, practically everybody used urine for wounds, cuts, stomach problems, fevers and insect bites.” Today most people, including doctors, consider urine to be a toxic waste. Economics play a major role in keeping this concept alive, for obvious reasons.

I first became aware that urine was not just pee, while doing special survival training in the Army many years ago. We were told that a human could live for a few weeks drinking their own urine if no water or food was available. I remember saying to myself, “I hope I never have to experience that.”

The second time I became aware of the healing effects of urine was during my study of Ayurveda, an ancient East Indian healing art. I learned that urine could be used as a natural internal cleansing therapy. I remember telling my mother about this, who in turn told me that she was aware of urine being used on cuts and rashes when she was growing up in the South.

You can get a copy of Lara’s book online at Amazon.com if this concept has peeked your interest. The book gives details on how to use this unique therapy. Most people don’t know or care what urine really is, but I can assure you that it’s not toxic waste. Lara states that “All the blood in the body passes through the kidneys 60 times every day. Through this process the kidneys control the total volume of blood in the body and balance the acid/alkaline (pH) level by removing the excess water, salt, medicines, vitamins, toxins and organic compounds. All these excreted ingredients make up what we know as urine.” According to Lara urine is not toxic body waste, it is a blood byproduct.

I would advise you to pick up Lara’s book and read it before you try this therapy. It works. I have used it. For those who still have doubts, try rubbing a little of your urine on a cut or rash as an antibiotic. The healing process will surprise you.

The human body is a wonderful thing, we are all truly blessed. Unfortunately there is so much about our body that we don’t understand or know about; and in many cases what we don’t know can hurt us.

Know Yourself: Then Heal Yourself.
