Harlem Holistic Wellness Week 2017

Harlem Holistic Wellness Week 2017
By: William A Rogers
There are many reasons for the tremendous growth in the desire by many to address their health by using natural holistic wellness strategies. Many believe that it is due to the growth of the baby boomers quest for longevity; others see it as being a way to address the concern about the long term negative effects of manmade drugs. I agree with the popular thought that a greater number of people are now experiencing the quality of life benefits in learning to balance mind, body and spirit.

Harlem Holistic Wellness Week 2017 (Saturday April 29th to Saturday May 6th )  is a vehicle to bring those who would like to explore natural holistic ways to improve the quality of their lives with the practitioners, programs and businesses that offer natural holistic wellness options.  Thousands of people in over 70 countries celebrate the collective mind of wellness and peace annually on the last Saturday in April during world Tai Chi and Qigong Day (www.worldtaichiday.org).

The 10th annual Harlem World Tai Chi and Qigong Day celebration is traditionally the first event of Harlem Holistic Wellness Week this year on Saturday April 29th. The event will start at 10am to coincide with tens of thousands of people throughout the world who will also start energy movement exercises at the same time; with a collective mind focused on world peace. The opening event will take place in Saint Nicholas Park located at 135th Street and Saint Nicholas Avenue.

Tai Chi, Qigong and energy treatment masters will give free demonstrations and treatments again this year. If you are interested in learning about energy training programs, this event will provide a wonderful opportunity to speak to energy movement and treatment masters from Harlem and the Tri State area. If you would like more information about this event contact Jana Cunningham at 718 314-0882 email jacnoop@yahoo.com or the Ki Energy Center at 646 329-6727

The theme of this year’s wellness week is “Discovering Natural Wellness Options for Women”. The Thursday April 27th issue of Harlem Community News will carry a full schedule of Harlem Wellness Week events and locations. The Harlem Ki Energy Center will have a number of workshops during the week that will focus on holistic wellness strategies for women.

The Now We No (www.nowweno.net) feminine hygiene health awareness campaign will be introduced to the Harlem community during this year’s wellness week. Nspire Network (www.nspirenetwork.com) is the wellness company that developed the campaign to educate females about the potential dangers of leading sanitary napkins and to introduce a safe, natural and comfortable option “Cherish Premium Sanitary Napkins”.

I will also introduce a sub-division of Urbanology Systems during wellness week the name of the company is the “Onuwon Wellness Group”. In a recent Urbanology article “The Marketing of Wellness” (see www.theartofwarogers.info) I reviewed the growth of the wellness business into a trillion dollar industry.

The Onuwon Wellness Group will provide strategic marketing opportunities for wellness businesses, practitioners, organizations and their products; by producing and sponsoring events such as “Harlem Holistic Wellness Week”.

Abundance 2017

Abundance 2017
By: William A Rogers

We are now in the age of the creative mind, and our thoughts have more power than ever before. We are at the beginning of this new cycle, but in time it will become more apparent that the frequency of thought will liberate or imprison us.  This concept is not new; thought manifestation has been a guarded secret for centuries because only a few have truly understood the power of thought. In 1912 Charles F. Haanel published the Master Key System a guide to self-empowerment through thought manifestation.
Haanel considered abundance to be a universal law and those who placed themselves in harmony with that law would share in its benefits. According to Haanel, the mind shapes and controls matter. Every form which matter takes is but the expression of some preexisting thought.  You can originate thought, and since thoughts are creative, you can create for yourself the things you desire.

The universal law of thought manifestation is stronger now, which means we have to become more aware of the power that our thoughts have on our internal and external environments. Now more than ever your thoughts should be on what you desire not what you fear. In 1912 Haanel wrote that fear and doubt were the greatest obstacles to the human development of thought manifestation. In 2017 those who are not aware of the power of thought will self-destruct from negative thinking influenced by fear and doubt.

According to Haanel “we must “be” before we can “do,” and we can “do”  only to the extent which we “are” and what we “are” depends upon what we think”. He goes on to say “the attitude of mind necessarily depends upon what we think. Therefore, the secret of all power, all achievement and all possession depends upon our method of thinking”. If your thoughts linger on the frequency of limitations anchored on the pillars of fear and doubt; you will forever be trapped in the world of limitations.

“I can be what I will to be” is an important affirmation to use when learning how to strengthen your will to realize your power to manifest your thoughts into reality. Haanel’s Master Key System is a wonderful guide for learning how to unlock your full potential. Understanding and using the universal law of thought manifestation will allow you to rise from the lower frequency of limitations to a higher frequency of abundance.

Health, Wealth and Love are the three things necessary to reach the highest expression and complete development in the use of thought for the manifestation of abundance following the path of Haanel’s training system. During this year’s Harlem Holistic Wellness Week I will conduct a workshop outlining a training model that will use Haanel’s Master Key System as a foundation that will help women learn to use thought manifestation to create the energy of abundance in health, wealth, and love.

The workshop will be at the Ki Energy Center 13 West 122nd Street the date and time will be in the Harlem Holistic Wellness Week calendar of events that will be in the April 27th issue of Harlem Community News. The theme of this year’s wellness week (April 29th to May 6th) is Discovering Natural Wellness Options for Women” if you would like more information send an email to onuwon@gmail.com or call 646 329-6727

The Marketing of Wellness

The Marketing of Wellness
By: William A Rogers

The “Wellness Guru” Paul Zane Piltzer predicted the growth of the wellness industry more than two decades ago.  In 1999 Piltzer’s bestselling book “The Wellness Revolution” made the food and healthcare industries responsible for the fact that more than half of the U.S. population was unhealthy and overweight. It is for this reason Piltzer’s book focused on the then emerging wellness industry, that he said was ready to occupy the next trillion of the economy.

Currently, over one trillion dollars of the United States economy is devoted to the wellness industry. A recent McKinsey research report states that the North American Market for Alternative Medicine alone was 16.4 billion. The report said that 96% of American Adults use the internet to find health information, and a large percentage has become open to alternative medicine and holistic wellness options.

Three years ago I began producing Harlem Holistic Wellness Week (HHWW) this annual event traditionally starts on the last Saturday in April and ends on the first Saturday in May. The two major objectives of the week are to first provide a marketing platform for Harlem wellness practitioners, businesses and organizations in particular and wellness businesses in general.

The second objective is to provide an awareness campaign that encourages individuals to explore the many wellness programs and activities that can improve their health and quality of life naturally. The dates for year’s Harlem wellness week are Saturday April 29th to Saturday May 6th. This year’s theme is “Discovering Wellness Options for Women”

Participating wellness businesses, practitioners and organizations will be asked to focus and market services and products that provide natural health options to females. A major feature this year will be the promotion of the “Now We No” (www.nowweno.net) female health and awareness campaign. This awareness campaign created by the Nspire Network Wellness Company will introduce a series of natural products that will become a game changer in the feminine hygiene industry.

There will be “Nowweno” information workshops at the Ki Energy Center and other wellness locations throughout wellness week. These workshops will provide information that can improve or perhaps in some cases save the lives of females who attend. The workshops will also provide information on developing business opportunities in the rapidly growing wellness industry.
The April 27th issue of the Harlem Community Newspaper will have a schedule of wellness week events, activities and workshops. If you are a holistic wellness practitioner, business or organization and would like to participate in this year’s Harlem Holistic Wellness Marketing program, send an email to yourway2wellness2014@gmail.com or call 646 329-6727 no later than April 19th.

You Can't Teach Old Dogs New Tricks

You Can't Teach Old Dogs New Tricks
By William A Rogers

A few weeks ago my good friend Alfie Wade who now lives in the South of France called me to discuss a book that he feels will change the lives of thousands of people. The name of the book is “The Brain That Changes Itself” by Dr. Norman Doidge. The Doidge book is a study of scientific success by scientist who are leading the new neuroplastic revolution movement; a movement with an identical base in concepts of ancient wisdom.

Modern science has long believed that after childhood the brain starts a long process of decline. Brain cells that were damaged or died could not be replaced. It was also believed in the same scientific circles that people who were born or suffered brain damage would be limited or damaged for life.

If the brain is socially programed it is wired and cannot change, if the brain cannot change the personality developed by an unchangeable brain was also fixed and unchangeable as well. Neuroplasticity research has proven these old beliefs about the brain be to untrue.

Neuroplasticity also known as brain plasticity refers to the now proven fact that the brain has the ability to change throughout life. It has the ability to form new connections between brain cell to repair and replace dead or injured cells.
Neuroplastic research has shown that the brain can grow new nerve endings to reconnect neurons (nerve cells) whose links were damaged or destroyed. The research also discovered that undamaged axons can grow nerve endings and connect with other undamaged nerve cells, forming new pathways to address a needed function.

Doidge provides a number of neuroplastic research case studies that showed patients treated by forms of neuroplastic trophy have learned to see again, overcome learning disorders, recovered from stroke enablement and memory lost. This research also shows how brain plasticity can be both good and bad. Thoughts can create a restructuring of the brain and brain cell communication in negative and positive ways.

You are what you think you are and you can do what you think you can do. If you are not happy with your quality of life you have the ability to manifest a new reality. This understanding has a base in ancient wisdom. The new understanding of how the brain works provides a clearer understanding of how meditation, tai chi and ki training works.

All healing begins from within physical, mental and spiritual. This new and old way of looking at the brain will not only revolutionize the medical approach to brain damage and repair; it will also provide new avenues for personal development and change.
Neuroplastic science has proven that we have the ability to rewire our brain and our way of thinking for self-improvement and the improvement of our quality of life.

I guess you can teach old dogs new tricks. Once again science has proven what wise men and women understood to be true thousands of years ago.

Spring Detoxifying

Spring Detoxifying
By: William A Rogers

The Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water) are the foundation for Taoist healing strategies. Each element has a different energy vibration and frequency in relationship to vital organs, planets, directions, seasons, taste, color and a host of other relationships that ancient Taoist sages connected to each of the five elements in order to better understand the human body.  Wood is the element related to spring.

The two vital organs connected to the Wood element are the Liver (yin) and the Gall Bladder (yang). Jupiter is the planet and east is the direction. Spring is the season; sour is the taste and green is the color. Wood is the element of infancy. We often relate to spring as a time to clean and make new. Spring is an important time for detoxifying the Liver and Gall Bladder the Wood organs.

The Gall Bladder is a pear shaped sack located in a depression under the liver on your right side.  The function of the, Gall Bladder is to store and concentrate bile until it is needed in the small intestine for digestion. The bile breaks down fats in food.  If the Gall Bladder gets congested with bile salts or bacteria; the bile will isolate it and form a pearl-like stone around it.  You do not want this to happen. Irritability and uptightness can weaken the Gall Bladder in the spring.

The Liver stores large quantities of blood, minerals, and vitamins. The liver produces bile salts which are distributed by the Gall Bladder into the small intestine to absorb fats from the food that we eat. The Liver also stores all the toxins, poisons, chemicals, and drugs that the body takes in. The Liver then breaks down poisons chemically into less toxic compounds that can be easily eliminated. Toxins stay in the liver a long time. If the amount of toxic becomes too high gallstones can develop. Anger and frustration can weaken the liver in the spring.

There are many ways to start a spring detox strategy a very easy and inexpensive way is to drink a glass of lukewarm water with lemon every morning.  There are many benefits that can come from a daily practice of drinking a glass of lukewarm water with lemon here are a few: detoxification of the liver, aids digestion, balances pH levels, stimulation of nerve and brain functions, relief from respiratory issues, and weight loss.
If you visit the Ki Energy Center a Ki treatment is another wonderful way to begin your spring detox strategy.

Starting in April the Ki Center will offer a special Ki treatment package for women as part of this year’s Harlem Holistic Wellness Week (April 29th – May 6th ) The theme of this year’s holistic wellness week is “Discovering Holistic Wellness Options for Women”
